Hello, fellow travellers, Anil this side!!!
I am a passionate traveller with a talent for discovering hidden gems. I recently enjoyed a memorable family trip to the beautiful hill station of Manali. Known for its stunning landscapes, snow-covered mountains, and lively local markets, Manali provided the perfect mix of adventure and tranquillity. My journey, along with my nephew and five other family members, was filled with exploration, excitement, and relaxation. Also, Explored Kullu and Manali on a bike, enjoying the markets, sightseeing, rivers, and mountains. Moreover, I rode to Rohtang on a motorcycle with my nephew while the other family and I were followed by a car.
Day 1: Arrival in Manali
Our journey began with an early morning flight from Gwalior to Delhi. From Delhi, we embarked on a scenic drive to the charming town of Manali. Upon arrival, we checked into Neelam Hotel and Restaurant, which offered cosy family rooms at a reasonable rate of Rs. 3,000 per day. Also, the day ended with a relaxing evening, preparing us for the adventures ahead.
Note: Encountered deep snow (5-6 feet) in higher regions.
Day 2: Exploring Kullu and Manali Market
Our adventure began with a bike ride through the enchanting town of Kullu. Along the way, the ride offered stunning views of rivers and mountains, a true feast for the eyes. Later, the highlight of the day was exploring the bustling markets of Manali, where we indulged in delightful street food and shopped for local handicrafts. Overall, the vibrant atmosphere and delicious food made it a memorable experience.
Day 3: Thrilling Ride to Rohtang Pass
The next day, we geared up for a thrilling ride to Rohtang Pass. The journey was challenging yet exhilarating, with snow reaching up to 5-6 feet. While my nephew and I took on the challenging roads on bikes, the rest of the family followed in cars. Although some roads were closed due to snow, the breathtaking views made the journey worthwhile. Eventually, unable to go further, we returned to Manali and continued exploring the town’s markets.
Day 4: Hidden Gem: Hidimba Devi Temple
On our fourth day, we visited the hidden gem of Manali—the Hidimba Devi Temple. Nestled amidst lush greenery, the temple offered a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of the town. The peaceful surroundings and the temple’s unique architecture left us in awe, making it a must-visit spot in Manali.
Day 5: River Rafting Adventure
Our final day was packed with excitement as we took on the rapids with a thrilling river rafting experience. The adventure was the perfect way to end our trip, providing a rush of adrenaline and unforgettable memories. After the rafting, we bid farewell to Manali and headed back to Delhi, bringing our family adventure to a close.
February: A Winter Wonderland in Manali
Manali in February is a dream come true for winter enthusiasts. The best time to travel to Manali is February only. Also, the snow-capped mountains, crisp air, and serene beauty create a magical ambience. Moreover, This is the peak of the winter season, and the landscape transforms into a pristine white canvas.
Experience the thrill of adventure sports: skiing, snowboarding, and sledging are at their best during this time. Engaged in river rafting and savoured street food.
Travel Tips for Manali:
- Avoid Peak Season: Manali can get very crowded during peak seasons, leading to higher costs and longer wait times. Also, plan your visit during the off-season to enjoy a more peaceful experience.
- Prefer Bikes Over Cars: To save time in traffic and enjoy the scenic routes, hire a bike if you’re comfortable with riding. However, be cautious, as the roads can be challenging and there are no fences along the edges.
- Pack Quality Woollens: The weather in Manali can be quite cold, especially in February. Moreover, ensure you pack good-quality woollens to stay warm.
We were 7 people in total, and the budget was Rs. 50,000. Also, my journey to Manali was a blend of exploration, adventure, and family bonding.
